Ubuntu promotes OpenJDK

Users Java and Ubuntu will be happy to know that OpenJDK 6 has been migrated the main repository of distribution "human", becoming the Java Run-Time Environment (JRE) and Java Development Kit (JDK) default Ubuntu 8.10. OpenJDK is the free version of Java born from source version 6 and the work of the community (but also companies like RedHat).

The official announcement of the list architectures affected by this change have been registered in the mailing list ubuntu-devel-announce.
